Autumn is the sweet spot
Hanoi's autumn, roughly late September through November, is widely considered the city's best stretch — drier, cooler and less humid than summer — and it's the most pleasant time to sit outdoors for an evening show. Summer: warm, humid, wetter
From around May to August, Hanoi is hot and humid with a real chance of afternoon and evening downpours. It's perfectly doable; just go in prepared rather than surprised.

Neither stops the show, but both are reasons to check the forecast and dress for the actual conditions rather than the daytime weather.
